Hottest Topic

The hottest topic is Ashwiraya Rai's post pregnancy weight. Leaving the lady with her weight we will focus on her style, at Cannes,  for a change was right with western wear

This Angelo Katsapis maxidress is so right for many reasons. First and foremost the dress is almost monochromatic. The splash of black at top & bottom of the long dress takes attention away from her body. The straight black line at the center gives a slimming effect. The semi-fit of the dress is so perfect, its neither too loose nor tight revealing body fat. Also her arms are cleverly hided using black color. Not to leave the haistyle. The smart hairstyle hides half of her face that too with straight slim flick giving a slimming effect. There is no volume for the hair, its left straight & long. Gals do pay special attention to hairstyle.

The white and gold sari ,designed by Sandeep Khosla and Abu Jani, is again monochromatic. The sari drapping is done such that the border forms a straight thin line, very good for slim illusion. The colors of the jacket blouse are easy on the eye & the most embellished part of the blouse is yoke which draws the attension to the face instead of body. Again the haistyle is chic & sleek. Its ensured there is no volume & slight slim puff in the front & subtle hair strands to the sides create straight lines. So the rule is to maintain slim straight lines in the costume & in haistyle to look less healthy than we are.

Here is one more way to hide the little tummy we Indian ladies have which is equally good to hide tummy during or post pregrenancy
Pleated Tops/Kurtis
Pleats are the best friends that hold the extra cloth which is required to hide the tummy. Pregnant women can use such tops for few months atleast.

Trends - 2012

2012 is here & its time to update our fashion trends

Spring 2012 Colors

Revival

The 70's fashion is revived which gives way for the high-waisted, wide legged bell bottoms, lace, bright block colours, full skirts, ultra-short hemlines, dresses that accentuate the bust, monochromes, glamorous gowns, a sultry pout and long lashes.

I wish and would be happy to see monochromes back in vogue instead of color blocking. Color blocking was too much. Also hope not to see patching. Every sari or kurti has different color patches at hemline.

Monochrome Kurti

High Waited Pants
 Pleats

Bring out the pencil skirts and body-hugging silhouettes that show off tiny waists and womanly curves

With Pencil skirt Tuxedo & leather Jackets will also be witnessed in 2012

Flower Power is back . Lot of floral prints will be around

Saquence fabrics, sheer fabrics, fur, high slits & plunging necklines are very much 70's.

Indian Fashion

Like it or not Anarkali is still in vogue. I am done overseeing it but looks like everyone is glued to it

Asymmetrical Hemlines are coming back 2012

Saris are in ,in & in even internationally. The six yard magic is now going global .

The Indian Wedding Season is here & this month's blog is dedicated to all the brides who are set for Big Fat Indian Wedding.Lets explore the options brides have for different wedding events

To look grand and not heavy on pockets go for bright color brocade lehanga cholis for Mehandi & Sangeeth.

You may also go for long skirts & top

You go wih traditional outfits for wedding but can always be experimental for Mehandi & Sangeeth.
You may go with half-sari or Sharara for pre-wedidng events. Half-sari suites best for pre-wedding events, its like you are turning into women from girl. We see mostly unmarried girls wearing half-sari.

You can also sport semi casual outfits like kurti with capri or chudidar  bottoms

The wedding reception outfits can also be experimental as it is not a traditional event.Go for young vibrant colors & textures that make you glow with wedding bliss

 Can go with lace saris
or net embroidered saris

or prestictched saris

You can also go for Sharara or ghagra with unconevntional fabrics like net, lace, brasso etc embellished with beads or lace borders. To look slim avoid light colors and sequence or too much stones that refelct light as receptions are at night .
You may wear a color that compliments the garmnet of your man instead of a matching one.Be a power couple :-)

I strongly feel like saying this please avoid buns for reception. The moment reception word is heard many brides & especially beauticians think of buns. Buns are retro & are for our grand mom's. You may have simple hairstyle but keep it young  with subtle make-up to define your features

2011 is the year for ethnic fashion . Rich brocade, banaras fabrics with bright Indian colors are  seen all over. The other dimension  of ethnic fashion is the earthy tones in soft cotton fabrics with block prints, woven fabrics much like fabindia garments. In this month’s blog we will check how we can style with the fabindia type of ethnic wear
Go for classics like Bandini, Lehariya which are a treasure & never out of fashion. Instead of typical salwar go for bandini skirt or harem pants or parallels or capri
Get a nice jacket done with mom’s old embroidered sari or old checks sari

With same old bandini or Checks you can get a frock
With an old Gadwal or Pochampalli sari you may get pants stitched enhancing the border

May mix rich embroidery with simple mangalagiri fabrics or any other handlooms.

Also mix n match of handlooms chiffons,  georgettes, velvet also works great

Go for latest styles like long sleeves, deep neck patterned cholis, corset cholis  with handloom saris

Accessories are key to enhance any look. Carefully choosing them would glam up the overall look. Can choose traditional accessories like waist band, arm band, silver ring or ear rings

Contemporary bags, hats, shoes,  scarfs help in trendy look

Last but not least the way you carry, your hair style, make up can be used to give that urban modern chick look
